What is Microsoft Access?
If you need to manage data as well as create custom applications for end
users, then this is the system for you.
Microsoft Access has two sides. First it is a data management tool. As
a data management tool, Microsoft Access provides a connection to
relational databases. Microsoft Access also has tools to enter, edit,
delete and index your data. Once your data is in Microsoft Access, tools
are provided to access it via custom forms and reports.
The second side of Microsoft Access is Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
Visual Basic for Applications gives you the power to program Microsoft Access.
You can take total control by creating VBA programs that control the input of
data into your database tables. You can create data validation rules as well as
custom forms that enforce those rules. You can also create interactive queries
and reports to get the most from your data.
So, if you are a beginner to DBMS and want to learn data management, or
desire to create custom database applications, then Microsoft Access is the
system and language for you.
